Grave-digging has been Gabriel’s family business for generations, now it’s his turn whether he likes it or not. Maybe if he digs deep enough, he might find himself.
Gabriel is a sarcastic good-for-nothing gambler on the run from loan sharks. Following the death of his father he returns to his small village to collect his inheritance and sell it off for cash. He’s in a rush to get back to the city and clear his debts but his father’s best friend, Arnold, has other ideas. Arnold rallies the eccentric locals against Gabriel, who finds himself stranded, with no choice but to step into his father’s boots as the village gravedigger to survive.
Gradually, through a series of surprising ordeals, Gabriel begins to grow as a person, and even re-kindles an old romance, but the mistakes of his past are catching up with him…
