Steele's tour is soon coming to an end and he has no plans to return to Afghanistan. Steele leaves the Army as the guilt of two injured soldiers haunt him. Steele returns to Australia. Brishna's unable to get a passport due to a passport freeze. Steele talks to a friend of his, Andy, who is a Federal Agent working on People Smuggling. Andy gives Steele some names of some people smugglers who might be able to get Brishna into Australia. Steele returns to Afghanistan to travel with Brishna when they leave the village and are confronted by a Taliban ambush. With the assistance of coalition forces, Steele and Brishna manage to fight their way through.

Steele plans to bring Brishna to Australia via Indonesia. In Indonesia Steele meets a local people smuggler and he pays him $8,000 for a place for Brishna on his boat. Brishna gets on the vessel and manages to be sent to an immigration detention centre on Christmas Island for six months before being flown to Australia for settlement. In Australia, Brishna lives with Steele in Sydney.

Meanwhile Brishna's last surviving family member, her uncle, is actually an insurgent for the Taliban. Steele and Anderson are being followed by the Taliban before engaging in a fire fight.

In Afghanistan Brishna has a baby girl. Brishna and her daughter are captured by the Taliban who have been desperately trying to locate her.
